You know it’s authentic when the kid is the only one who speaks English and there’s always a kid doing homework in the corner. Inside is kinda sketchy, don’t recommend dining in, but their food is great for carry out. Huge portions, definitely worth ordering.

Ithe food is very flavorless and bland you're better off driving 15 minutes to Yummy as even cold buffet items have more flavor

The hotpot is my new favorite dining experience. It is like the fancy fondue places, only with the unique flavors of authentic Chinese cooking. I love the way the meatballs randomly turn over while cooking. We got half spicy, half original. The flavors of both improved throughout the meal as the various meats cooked and enriched the broths. It was so fun! I have carbohydrate restrictions, but it was easy to avoid the higher carb choices (potatoes, noodles.) my favorite was the puffy fish meatball with a meatball in the middle. Unbelievably good. There were two sauces: a sesame garlic and a peanut sauce. I loved the peanut sauce combined with the flavors of the spicy broth. The sesame garlic sauce was good on everything. However, for the most part you didn’t need either, the flavors were so good! I mostly used it to enhance a bite or two. So the food was amazing, and the people attending us during the meal were great answering my questions about all of it. (What is that leaf? Etc.) But the best part is how much fun we had trying everything and getting our cooking techniques right and recommending stuff to each other. Highly recommend as a date night! As far as value…you pay a little more for the experience—but you get your moneys worth in amount of food, quality and uniqueness of the flavors and variety of options, and how fun it is. Basically, we have done this twice and it is now my favorite dining experience ever.

Very good food. Tried this restaurant with my parents. Food is really good and the portions are awesome. Can't wait to try more of their menu! A new favorite restaurant in Muncie! I’m so happy for the vegetarian/vegan options.

Hot and spicy chicken and shrimp fried rice were really good. The Bourbon Chicken was very tough and hard to chew. Not pleasant.

Well priced, but quality is accordingly. Fried sweet sour chicken coated in thick dough, fried rice is neon yellow and greasy. Better price than Chinese food from any shopping mall, but same lack of quality. Won't be back.

I am so disappointed with these guys today ,we walk place order ,sit down and I guess it was a group that was sitting there before we came it but they had not order ,so they order there food with prompt service,as me and my wife sitting there about 20 mins went a people are coming and going cause the owner /cook stop cooking to work the front counter when there is a guy up there oh did mention the group was Chinese . So I ask the counter guy why it take soo long .and why the cook stop what he was doing to help these other customers instead of finishing the order

Every time I go late at night the food is not the same quality it is during the day and they are extremely rude at the pick up window. Only recommend going during the day for a good experience

Got carryout. The best moo shu pork in the area. Many don’t even offer it or they use Mexican tortillas instead of the proper wraps. Excellent price and quantity. 6 wraps. Could use an extra container of plum sauce. Shrimp rolls were also good. Crab Rangoon a little tough instead of crunchy.

Excellent service. Nice dining environment. Cute little restaurant. Nice decor. Food is delivered to the table quick. You get a little fried noodle starter while you are ordering. I got the garlic chicken with fried rice. Wonton soup. Added an egg roll. Very good. Fair prices. Try this place out. Recently got take out. Still good food. Pork fried rice is good. Nice veggies. Soup is deep in flavor.

North Village Chinese Restaurant - 1 Stars After living in Dayton my entire life, I finally decided to give North Village Chinese Restaurant a try, especially after noticing a few customers coming in for takeout. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. I had high hopes based on the foot traffic, but the food did not live up to my expectations. To start with, the hot and sour soup was a letdown. It had a globby texture and lacked any real flavor, which was surprising. I had never tried it before, so maybe this is how it is typically served, but I found it to be unappetizing and not even hot. On a brighter note, the wonton soup was quite good—definitely the highlight of my partners meal. The crab rangoon was average; it was okay but nothing that stood out. The fried rice was decent, but it really needed more seasoning or flavor to elevate it. I found the noodles to be sticky and bland, which was disappointing. The Mala G. Beans Chicken was particularly unappetizing and lacked any definitive taste, while the Moo Goo Gai Pan also fell flat in terms of flavor. Overall, I was hoping for a better experience at North Village. While I did enjoy the wonton soup, the rest of the meal simply did not impress. I may return to give it another shot, but my first visit left much to be desired.

When you ask for General Tso’s Chicken and you get a container with an extreme amount of a running sauce resulting in something more like SOUP… the outcome is sorely disappointed. What an unpleasant experience. Not to mention costly. 14.95 for lunch!!! You could have kept the wonton soup. After the “unrequested, unsolicited soup” I did not want to add additional insult to energy. This overall experience was “AWFUL!!!” The only part of the encounter that could be loved upon favorably was the general disposition of the host/server. Such a waste of time and money.

I got hooked, I love the food over there, it is so tasty, delicious, and affordable, sometime I find myself driving 15 miles to buy food over there, while I have other places much closer to me. It is a family biz and they are friendly.

The best Chinese food in Dayton. Healthy portions. The orders are accurate. I hate that the dinning room hasn't been open since Covid. The parking lot need repair.

Monday through Friday they offer a well curated and extremely tasty lunch buffet. I believe it is available from 11 to 1:30 PM. You can also get a take out buffet if you don't want to eat in. The tricky part is timing. The place is usually packed full around Noon. So getting there early or closer to 12:30 is usually a good strategy. If you like high quality cuisine with really good flavors and a bit of spicy zing when needed... This is a rare hidden gem. You can also get takeout and DoorDash between 11am and 9pm Monday through Saturday. I regularly get carry out from here for dinner... It has always been fresh and delicious.

Great Chinese food at a good price. Self service and uses heavy duty (not plastic) plates and bowls. The hot and sour soup is the best! Tofu and meat fried mixture is delicious! Comfort for hungry souls!!

My wife and I went to this Chinese restaurant Friday night. The place had a nice vibe, perfect for a quiet night out. We started with Crab Rangoon, which was crispy and creamy, and came with sweet and sour sauce 😋 For our main courses, I had Hunan Chicken with steamed rice. It was spicy and flavorful, but you gotta add peanuts to really make it pop! 🌶️ My wife had the Shrimp Fried Rice, which was seasoned well and had big, juicy shrimp. 🍤 The Hot-and-Sour Soup was a good mix of spicy and sour 🍲 Overall, China Cottage was a good spot for food and atmosphere. Oh, and you gotta check out the fish tank while you're there! 🐠

I really wish you could break ratings down farther into quarters. I would most likely rate this establishment a 4.5. So there are several China Cottage restaurants in the Dayton metro area: Centerville, Kettering, Trotwood, and rumor has it they may be opening on in Huber Heights. This review features the Trotwood location. As I get older, and my palette becomes more discriminating the China Cottage locations are still at the top of my list, and preferred "go to" when I'm in the mood for Asian cuisine. This visit was for supper on a Saturday evening. My husband always orders the same item, no matter which Asian restaurant: Moo Goo Gai Pan. I order the fried eggplant and we shared a Pao Pao Platter. I will focus on the items I indulged in. I first had the fried eggplant at the Kettering location and totally enjoyed it. So since I like the dish at one of their locations, I decided I should try it at another to see if the dish was consistent at differing locations. I was not disappointed. The fried eggplant was mixed with water chestnuts, thinly sliced garlic, green onions, thinly sliced carrots in a brown sauce. I am not a person who can handle spicy foods and the first time I tried the dish it was at the "2 pepper" heat level which was too much for me. This time I requested it non-spicy. Removing the heat from the dish did not take away any of the flavor. As with the majority of meals you also have your choice of rice to complement it. Portion sizes were more than ample. I took half of home to enjoy at a later time. Of course, part of that could be due to partaking in the Pao Pao platter. The appetizer could easily be shared with 3, maybe 4 people. The Pao Pao is fun due to how it is presented. Includes a mini heat source for further grilling the meat scures. The crab ragoon is one of my favorites as they add finely chopped onion and imitation crab meat making for a flavorful filling. The seaweed chicken rolls were wonton wrapped chicken with a small band of seaweed around the middle of the roll on the outside. This was good dipped in sweet-n'-sour sauce. The shrimp rolls were okay, but not my favorite. Maybe that was by they time I tried one they had started to cool off. I might have to try them again for a second take. The meat kabobs were tender, and I loved that I could reheat them on the mini grill to my taste. My husband feels China Cottage has the best Moo Goo Gai Pan of any Asian restaurant he was eaten at. They do not have a soda fountain, but offer Coke products in 20 oz. bottles. They also have hot and iced tea and a range of alcoholic beverages. Service was great. They were attentive without being over intrusive. The decor is dark and starting to look a little worn. Bringing my rating score down from a 5. The tropical fish tank is clean and looks well cared for adding a nice calming touch to the atmosphere. I still feel the China Cottages in the area are consistent in their service and cuisine. I will definitely continue to revisit these locations when craving an Asian meet.

This is our favorite place to order Chinese takeaway from. Have been ordering from here for years and years. The family who owns and operates the restaurant are so friendly and generous, the food is always hot and fresh, and the portions are enough for 2-3 meals while also being affordable. We've ordered from here for so long, Christmas isn't Christmas without our usual Great Wall takeaway.

Went out of my way to pick up food from here for my pregnant wife. My wife's General Tso's was good, pretty by the books. However... EXCELLENT PORK W. MUSHROOM. I was debating between the beef or pork, and the woman I placed the order with via phone recommended the pork. REALLY glad I took her advice. Excellent all the way around. I WILL be back.

This place is clean, fast, fairly priced, and their quality of their food is amazing. If you are a picky fan of egg-rolls, you must try these here. They’re flaky, not too greasy, and delicious! I also tried the combination fried rice you will see above. The shrimp are very clean and the barbecue pork is phenomenal! It’s tender like brisket and full of flavor without being too sweet!

I love China Sea, the servers are always very kind. The place is small and a little old, but it feels nice to eat in a small little place it's very comforting. They seem like a small business so I don't blame them if they don't have the money to fix the place up a little bit. The food is amazing, I especially love their sesame chicken it's so good!

The best part of this meal was when I didn't have to force myself to eat it anymore. I was finally full. Spent $40 and got yelled at on the phone and the worst tasting food I've ever left that building with. It's definitely not the same as it used to be. And I will not be going back there again.

Great local restaurant for Chinese food! Only a drive through as far as I know, make sure you order ahead or will be waiting a while. Takes 15-20min for a two person order. Good pricing and serving sizes. You got a lot for your buck and it's not a big buck
